Kaikohe Intermediate School is located in the Kaikohe
township, the largest service centre of the mid-North.
The vast majority (90-95%) of students identify themselves as Māori, with the remainder being European, Pacific Island and Asian.
As a relatively small Decile 1 State, Coeducational,
Intermediate School with a roll of approximately 200, pupils come from two large contributing schools in Kaikohe - (Kaikohe East and Kaikohe West Primary Schools), and three smaller rural schools - Tautoro, Ohaeawai and Waima.
The local environment is revered for its spiritual strength
and historical significance. This area is the turangawaewae of Te Iwi O Ngapuhi, the Ngapuhi people.
