The Bay of Islands Vintage Railway is the
most northerly railway in New Zealand.

The Vintage Railway is of significant historical and cultural importance.

Today the railway operates on a section of the former Opua track and offers train rides to visitors using diesel locomotives.

Project Brief: To design a terminus at the Opua end of the track to integrate with the Twin Coast cycle way, offering facilities to cyclists on the route. The building’s design is sympathetic to the historic rail buildings of New Zealand. It will house a conference centre, café/bar, bike shop, public toilets and showers, gift shop and history wall.
